Your Next Dose of Real Creative Opportunities and Events
CounterCult is your business to creatives development newsletter featuring REAL opportunities, events, tips, and updates. ONLY funded/free opportunities. ONLY real underground creative events.
Hello CounterCulters! (If you’re in a rush, you can just scroll down to the OPPORTUNITIES AND EVENTS sections.)
Sho here! I’m back in Berlin from an VERY long two travel days from Seattle, and went directly to a gallery opening of one of my exhibitions (here to see who’s behind CounterCult) and then went to the immigration office for my long awaited visa appointment. It’s been a busy week to say the least. With all that said, it’s amazing to see us growing with each week- it’s exciting for our whole community, because that means more opportunities are coming.
We started CounterCult because, as creatives ourselves, there isn’t a clear path on how survive and learn how to create our own businesses out of our creativity. We also found out, outside of our creative bubble, there’s a whole world that is looking to work with creatives. All we need is a little bit of community and organization to get the first steps in action, which brings us to the UPDATES section of our newsletter.
UPDATES
BIG UPDATES! We’ve spent the past month getting organized and growing our lovely team to put together needed opportunities for our CounterCult community.
🎨🤝MENTORSHIP PROGRAM BY COUNTERCULT: !!! We noticed the best way to get a lot of your questions answered about “how do I work as a creative” is by asking people who have been in the industry longer and know a bit more. So we’re putting together a mentorship program to work mainly with students, immigrants and refugees! More details to come in the coming weeks, but if you’re interested in being a MENTOR to help out, or if you would like to get mentoring, please reach out to us and let us know either through email or instagram DM
🌈🎨🏢PRIDE MONTH BUSINESS X CREATIVE NETWORKING BERLIN: CounterCult is doing a bigger collab with the more nitty gritty side of business- with AvoMind, a recruitment agency for startups, Quouch, a queer and women Couchsurfing startup, and QueerNext, who work with Queer people in business development. See more in our EVENTS section of this newsletter.
💌📣SHARE THIS NEWSLETTER: We ask that you share this newsletter so we can connect and curate more opportunities and events for us all, since most the information we feature comes from both creative and business members of our community. Here’s a link to share below:

🎷🎶🔒NYC ORNITHOLOGY JAZZ CLUB NYC: A COZY HIDDEN GEM: This is one of my favourite spots whenever im back in NYC since I love jazz. Ornithology Jazz Club, located in Brooklyn, NYC, is a cozy, hole-in-the-wall venue that features live performances by both established and emerging jazz artists. Named after Charlie Parker's famous composition "Ornithology," the club pays homage to the bebop legend and his significant contributions to jazz. Despite its small size, the club offers an intimate setting, creating an engaging atmosphere for jazz enthusiasts to enjoy dynamic and innovative performances. In addition to live music, Ornithology Jazz Club hosts events, workshops, and jam sessions, fostering a vibrant community for jazz musicians and fans alike.
