Our Cult Live from Asia! +money for creatives internationally
Hello from Vietnam! Also check out our top picks on funding and creative opportunities.
Hello from Vietnam where we are here with our partner Experiment Residency that we created to start connecting locally on an international level, with a focus on personal creative development and local community impact. This is the first cohort, and we will be moving the next editions in countries all over the world. See our journey with the residency here.
Welcome CounterCult (see more about us here)- our newsletter is a “skip to what you want” type of newsletter so here you go!
THE MORE WE GROW, THE BETTER OPPORTUNITIES WE GET ACCESS TO AS A COMMUNITY. SO PLEASE SHARE THIS NEWSLETTER, IT REALLY MAKES A DIFFERENCE.
Hi everyone! I’m (Sho) currently in Da Nang, Vietnam, and was in Hong Kong last week. I’ve mostly been based in the US and Europe, so I am so excited to share what we are learning and discovering in terms of local creative community and culture over in Asia. We started Experiment Residency because we knew to reach local communities on an international level, we have to show face. So here’s to our first cohort of 10 creatives over 4 weeks. Each creative is developing a different project that focuses on connecting creative communities and having an overall positive local impact. Want to join? Don’t worry, this is just the first of many to come BUT we would love to find ways to make it more accessible, so if any of you have leads to potential sponsors, funding, etc., of course feel free to let us know! We want to be the opposite of gate keepers haha.
Kora, my cofounder with Experiment Residency, also started a newsletter for the residency HERE if you want a more tailored update on where the experiment goes.
ALSO a reminder to please make a profile and posting on our FREE growing local creative database. Instagram is really sucking for creative people, and this is the database we refer to if we have paying clients reaching out to us that want to hire local creatives.

CREATIVE FEATURE
NAM JAM STREET ART FESTIVAL in Da Nang, Vietnam
We met the founders, a Vietnamese-British artist couple, of this amazing creative and surfer community here in Da Nang, where they have been organising and communicating with the government here to get more accessible art around local areas in the form of murals. Last year they organized a festival of 50 street artists, but were shut down only 3 days in, due to street art still being an international taboo of sorts, so it would be great to check out what they are doing for the local creatives and give them a follow or some type of support.
