It’s Time: Talk Openly about Creative Finance
Everyone loves to talk about art and culture, but they don’t want to talk about the price tag that comes along with it. See our thoughts, as well as real opportunities and events for creatives.
Hey, CounterCult Community!
Welcome CounterCulter- our newsletter is a “skip to what you want” type of newsletter so here you go!

UPDATES:
(Sho) As some of you may know, I’m also a painter, which is the whole inspirational push that got me to start CounterCult. Why is it so hard to get people to pay for creative services and products compared to other industries? Part of it is that local economics aren’t diversified enough, which leads to gentrification, creatives and all type of communities getting priced out, and creatives targeting their work for the upper class. We had the idea to connect local communities to their creatives, and offer an easy and secure way to connect with us.
❄️ 🎉 🛍️OUR NEXT EVENT (free)
See CounterCult in action at our next event on Dec. 6 if you are in Berlin (though you can join online as well). Featuring a curated local creative holiday market, business to creative networking, and an after party in central Berlin. RSVP here.
🛍️💻🏡SHOP/SELL LOCAL CREATIVES
(free to use, open internationally)
I’m not going to lie- we are getting a bit burnt out BUT powering through as we’re preparing for the launch of CounterCult Market. As some of you know we did a soft launch to some creatives, had some technical issues, have fixed them, and now we have our WAITLIST open. We recommend joining if you want to sell or shop local creative goods and services. Think a localized Etsy mixed with Fiverr. Free to use.
CREATIVE FINANCE
But to be a full time creative? That’s the difficult question. We know that people are investing in offline, local culture and experiences more because of the effects on us living chronically online. We’re trying to answer it ourselves, and would love to know what you think. Let us know in the comments.
FEATURE: ArtelFest
We met Artelfest, a New York founded travelling art fair, that works with local and street artists to bring them into nicer venues, last month in Berlin. The founder, Rich, is a great guy that really brings community together. Excitingly we are going to collaborate with them to make a creative bride from the States to Europe! Check them out for more.
