Fashion and Art Weeks, but where are the local creatives?
We’ve been going to a LOT of creative events, but are they actually fair for the local creatives? Is exposure actually working?

Dear CounterCulters!
We are back, and with our classic updates, creative feature, opportunities, and events. And of course, skip to whatever part you ACTUALLY want to read, we get it, we’re all busy and would love more time to create.
And remember, please share our newsletter since the more of us there are, the better and bigger opportunities for us all.
UPDATES
Events, events, events! The CounterCult team has been busy networking with both the business and creative worlds. One thing we've noticed: many events want creatives but prefer to pay in exposure, not cash. I’m guilty of this too when it comes to myself as a painter and have actually created ENTIRE PAINTINGS FOR FREE for exposure, with- shocker- no job leads ever coming from it! It's up to us to start the conversation about rates. Talking about money can be uncomfortable, but it's essential—we all need to eat. Businesses tell us they find it impolite to guess a creative’s rate, while creatives often feel awkward or unworthy asking to be paid. Just some food for thought! We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
We have LINKEDIN! See more about the founder of CounterCult (surprise, it’s also me) in this post here. I DID NOT WRITE IT and I am shy, but we realized it’s important to show the reasons why we started CounterCult.
Our collaboration with the Artist and Allies Event was a success! This was our first major partnership with names like Aesthete Circle from Prazzle, FOMO Berlin, Lynk and Co, and Studio20. Prazzle asked us to curate and book a series of local creatives, so a big THANK YOU to those featured. (If you'd like to be considered for future opportunities, please fill out our CREATIVES APPLICATION.)
WE ARE DEVELOPING, AND IT’S WORKING! Well, almost—we need a few more weeks before going live. In the meantime, join our waitlist to be included when we launch (perhaps a party with full CounterCult energy, of course)! As creatives, we weren’t satisfied with existing we bsites for creatives, so we decided to build our own.

FEATURE
We cannot express how OBSESSED we are with Amaluma Studios. Fashion, sustainable, community based and local, and so much more (read up here), we repeat, we are obsessed. Oh, and there’s also very affordable courses to create your own pieces as well!
Ama has actually come to a few of our events and we cannot recommend the person behind the brand enough! It is so nice to meet more of this community, and genuinely just being happy that we are all here with the same goals.
Enough typing for now, I’ll let the work speak for itself:
